Starr Model 1858 Army Civil War Revolver....LAYAWAY?
Description: .44 Caliber. 6" barrel length. SN: 10325. Blued metal refinish overall with one piece walnut grips, double action trigger, and hammer notch with dovetail mounted front blade sights. Double action only percussion six-shot revolver. The left frame is marked STARR.ARMS.CO.NEW.YORK., and the left shows the single line patent date reading STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15. 1856. The revolver shows assorted martial inspector marks such as the BH cartouche of Benjamin Hannis on the both sides of the grip. Sub inspector marks include the J initial to both halves of the frame, to two places on the cylinder, triggerguard, and to the right barrel at the breech. A K initial mark appears to the top of the grip beneath the frame. The serial numbers of this item are matching. Condition: Very Good. Bore is a little Frosty with some flakes of residue throughout and strong rifling. Metal work shows some light pitting on the flanks of the frame and at the forward frame beside the forcing cone. The grips have cartouches on both sidesof grip, and showing some minor marking. Blued finish displays some edgewear and thinning overall. A brown patina has formed over the forcing cone, and in patched losses overall. Grips have handling wear and mars, with some scratches and dings at the butt partly obscuring the right cartouche.
