"Serial number 16. Made in 1853. 44 caliber with a 7 ½" barrel. Very nice sharp gun with a light brown patina. This gun is serial number 16 in the London Dragoon series and is all matching. This gun has the very rare and early barrel address. Cylinder scene is still visible. The back strap is inscribed “Sergt W. F. Brien 8th Husars". The 8th Hussars was one of the units to make up the light Brigade. Sergeant Brien served in the Crimean war in 1854. He was Court Marshalled for being drunk on Duty in December of 1854 and demoted to a Private. The Crimean war took place between 1853 – 1856 between the British along with other nations facing the Russians on the Crimean peninsula which is located in modern day Ukraine. It was a war about religion. This gun comes with a binder full of provenance with letter regarding this Dragoon including one from noted dealer and collector Arnold Marcus Chernoff.
