New York Engraved Tiffany Gripped Colt 1862 Pocket Navy Conversion. Absolutely gorgeous gun. This gun has the extremely rare Tiffany grips. There are many spurious examples of these grips, but this is a guaranteed authentic pair. The gun is New York engraved with silver and gold plating. Gun is in excellent condition as a partially restored finish on the barrel and gold plated parts. Tiffany gripped guns are an extreme rarity in gun collecting.
This gun came out of the Robert M. Lee collection and is pictured in the book of his collection, ""The Art of the Gun Magnificent Colts Selections from the Robert M. Lee Collection"" by authors R.L. Wilson and Robert M. Lee, on page 290 and 291. In there the authors detail this gun and attribute the engraving to L.D. Nimschke. They discuss about how rare the Mexican Eagle with snake grips that this gun has are. Truly a magnificent gun from one of the finest collections ever assembled!
