RARE Antique London Marked 1862 Colt Pocket Navy. 5 1/2" Barrel. All Matching. Excellent Like New Mechanics. Excellent Grips.
Description: SOLD...Antique and Very Rare London Colt 1862 Pocket Navy Model.. This model has been called by so many names and dates and when they were made over the later years but I am staying with the 1862 Pocket Navy Model.. You call it what ever you want..…and please don't call me or e-mail me with your opinion. I went through this with the last one of these I sold... OK, This is a most rare and VERY hard and near impossible to find London Model and still in it's percussion state and has not been converted to cartridge as most all of these have been.... It has all matching S/N's throughout including the wedge and arbor pin.. No number on the rammer as is correct for this model.. S/N is 37421. It is in .36 caliber of course and has the 5 1/2” barrel. These were made with 4 1/2”, 5 1/2” and 6 1/2” barrels. The longer barrels are more sought after.. The London model has the steel trigger guard and back strap and not brass as the standard New York American Address models do. This model is also rare in any series in either London or New York address because most were converted to cartridge and the ones remaining in original percussion are rare.. The mechanics are excellent.. Crisp and tight as a new gun. Has very little front to rear cylinder movement and no cylinder side to side wobble on the arbor pin. It indexes and locks up perfectly and tight.. Rock solid barrel to frame fit and a tight wedge.. Tight rammer with no wobble.. All the hammer notches are perfect and positive. This Colt has no finish but for some nice blue remaining on the trigger guard as you can see where it has been protected. The balance is a antique gray with some light scattered surface crud here and there but no bad roughness or pitting but for some minor pin pricks here and there.. It has NOT been polished on.. If it looks light in a couple photos it is because of the glare from the camera.. I had an inquire about this and want to make it clear.. Please look al ALL the photos as I take them at different angles to get away from the glare some might show.. Nothing detracting as for a pretty much no finish gun. Not all beat up around the wedge either from idiots removing it.. It still has about 40% or more cylinder scene. All the markings are very good to excellent including all of the British proofs found on the barrel and cylinder. An “L” can be seen on the bottom of the barrel and trigger guard by the S/N's. The grips are excellent retaining 95% original varnish with no cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. Very hard to find grips this nice on an ole cap and ball Colt revolver.. The bore is very good, real strong rifling and mostly bright with some scattered light roughness in a few areas.. No rings or bulges. Well above the average Colt percussion bore.. The cylinder chambers are very good as well and not pitted.. The original nipples are near excellent and would still hold a cap and are not rusted thin and beat up from dry firing.. I would shoot this gun with no problem..The screw heads are clean and sharp and not burred up and show very little turning.. All in all, a nice and solid Colt Pocket Navy with no issues.. Even though this ole Colt does not have any finish it is still very desirable to both the collectors of London Colt's and collectors of the Pocket Navy.. If you collect this model and are looking for a 5 1/2” barrel to fill the gap, look no further.. Just to give an example on how rare these London Pocket Navy's are, my 20 year old blue book {and I do NOT go by these book prices } list the standard New York address Pocket Navy's with 10% finish at $1500.. The London Marked ones at 10% are listed at $3000.. I think I have it price pretty fair.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.. $20 insured shipping. SOLD Antique: Yes |
