Description: 1920 U.S. Army COLT Model 1917 .45 ACP Caliber DOUBLE ACTION C&R Revolver Post WWI-era Revolver to Supplement the M1911 Here we present a C&R U.S. Colt Model 1917 double action revolver, made in 1920 in Hartford, Connecticut. The M1917 Revolvers were six-shot, .45 ACP, large frame revolvers adopted by the United States Military in 1917, to supplement the standard .45 ACP Model 1911 pistol during World War I. There were two variations of the M1917, one made by Colt and the other made by Smith & Wesson. The Colt M1917 Revolver was essentially the same as the M1909 with a cylinder bored to take the .45 ACP cartridge and the half-moon clips to hold the rimless cartridges in position. The overall condition is good. Excellent action in double action mode; single action mode has some intermittent indexing issues with the cylinder. The bore is clear with good rifling and light frosting. Both grips are in fine shape with minimal handling wear. Sharp markings. “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” marked barrel.
