Description:
Standard configuration Colt 1917, SN: 79259, Cal: .45ACP, with 5.5” barrel having fixed front and grooved rear sight. Top of barrel with two line address reflecting location and patent dates. “COLT D. A. 45” on left side of barrel. Lower surface, above extractor rod, marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”. Military acceptance on left upper frame. Frame and crane matched to 231339. Rampant colt on sideplate. Butt marked “U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917/No79249”. Smooth walnut panels. Rotatable lanyard ring.
Condition:
VG+ original finish with sharp edge wear and thinning under trigger guard and straps as one might expect from a holstered and used military revolver. Early toning as imaged. Grips with most of their original varnish with a scattering of handling marks. No splits. Mirror bright bore. All cylinders index properly. A very attractive, all matching, original finish big frame Colt 1917 Army revolver in .45 ACP from WWI!
