BEAUMONT, TEXAS SHIPPED COLT Bisley SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38-40 Revolver C&R
Made in 1902 with Tooled HEISER of DENVER Leather Holster
Description: BEAUMONT, TEXAS SHIPPED COLT Bisley SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38-40 Revolver C&R Made in 1902 with Tooled HEISER of DENVER Leather Holster Here we present a C&R Texas Shipped Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver in .38-40 WCF, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1902, then shipped on 23 June of that year to E. L. Wilson’s Hardware Company in Beaumont, Texas. 18 others went with it. The factory letter confirms the configuration as having a 5-1/2” barrel in .38-40 Winchester with a blued finish. The hard rubber grips were standard. Beaumont was founded circa 1838 and oil was discovered at Spindletop in 1901. Oil was found in such quantity here (the initial geyser was some 150 feet tall, producing about 100,000 barrels a day, and was the most powerful in the world to that time) that it changed the use of oil from simply a lubricant and fuel for lighting to a fuel for powering all sorts of things. This is an example of the Bisley variant of the Colt Single Action Army revolver. The primary differences from the original were a lower hammer spur and a more curvaceous grip frame. These were optimized toward target shooting but many general users and shooters who were not simply target shooters preferred them as well. These revolvers made excellent companions to rifles at the time as they were chambered for the same ammunition, meaning that the user only had to keep one type to feed both guns. The overall condition is very good+. Original blue finish/patina. The numbers match. The action is excellent. Indexes and locks up well. The bore is in good shape with nice rifling. The rampant colt trademarked grips are of hard rubber and standard for the model. They remain in near fine condition. The original Heiser holster from Denver is hand-tooled and in fine condition and truly makes this a great set. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5-1/2 inches. Caliber: .38-40 Winchester Center Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3995 #215137 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
