BISLEY .38-40, 4 3/4" BARREL, #285XXX, MADE 1906
Description: BISLEY .38-40, 4 3/4" BARREL, #285XXX, MADE 1906. Nice honest example that hasn't been cleaned or scrubbed. This one shows good blue in the cylinder flutes, top/bottom of the ejector housing, thin blue on the cylinder and good blue in the usual protected areas with the balance an uncleaned gray/brown. Correct two line barrel address (used on 4 3/4" barrel Single Actions and Bisleys) , barrel is marked "BISLEY MODEL 38 W.C.F." on the left side. Front sight has not been filed or altered. Excellent screw heads, few small dings on the frame above the cylinder release button on the left side- minor, Grips show wear with more wear on the right side which is typical of holster carry with the revolver on the right hand side where the grips would be exposed and rubbed/worn more than the left side. Grips fit well and appear to be original. There are some illegible scratchings on the inside of the right grip and inside the left is scratched in script "Algodones Sonora Mex" which might make this Bisley a good one to factory letter. good mechanically and good cylinder lock-up with four clicks to the hammer. Generally about excellent bore with any spots of roughness or corrosion minor and might brush out. Matching numbers. An attractive, unmessed with Bisley that probably has some interesting history in it!
