Description:
Used; Circa 1907; SN 288,4XX; Colt Bisley Model Revolver in .38 Colt Caliber with a Later .38 Special Cylinder; 5½ Inch Barrel; Faux Ivory Grips; Nickel Plated. This gun is tight and perfectly functioning with a bright bore and sharp rifling that did not photograph well. Top of Barrel has 2-Line Colt Address with “(Bisley Model)” and 38 COLT on the Left Side. Only 412 Bisley Models in this caliber, with the Standard Frame, were manufactured between 1894 - 1912, which makes them "Very Rare" according to an online reference table. A new box of 25 Commercial/Factory 38 Short Colt Loaded Cartridges are included. The .38 Long Colt was the parent cartridge for the later .38 Special, and this revolver has what looks like a later .38 Special Nickel Cylinder and a later Firing Pin. Apart from the newer cylinder, firing pin, related work, and age-related blemishes, the plating is bright on the Barrel, Cylinder, Ejector Tip and Housing, Base Pin, Backstrap, Hammer, Trigger and Trigger Guard. The frame has a fairly even matte or satin-like finish that we cannot explain. The Rear Cylinder Face bears a Rampant Colt stamp. Owing to the unusual finish, condition is best judged from the photos although the piece looks much better in-person.
