COLT DETECTIVE SPECIAL SCARCE 1ST ISSUE 1930 NICKEL 38 SPL SOLD
Description:
Introduced in 1927, the Detective Special was the first short-barreled revolver produced with a modern swing-out frame designed from the outset to be chambered for higher-powered cartridges such as the .38 Special, considered to be a powerful caliber for a concealable pocket revolver of the day. The Detective Special uses a slightly smaller frame than the Colt Official Police or Smith & Wesson Model 10 (K-Frame) revolvers, but is larger than the five-shot Smith & Wesson Model 36/Model 38/Model 42 (J-frame) revolvers.
This example is a first issue, Detective Special that was manufactured in 1930. The original nickel finish has normal amount of scratches and surface imperfections that one would hope to see in a 90 year old gun. The grips are in great shape with no deep scratches or imperfections. There is a large area of flaking on the cylinder. This revolver appears to not have been fired much as the bore is bright with strong rifling. The trigger pull is smooth and the cylinder locks up tight. This Colt would be a great addition to a Colt collection or perfect for home defense.
PRICE: $ 950.00
