1968 Colt Diamondback .22 LR, 2.5 Inch, Box W/Colt Letter
Description: 1968 Colt Diamondback wearing a rare 2.5 inch vented rib barrel and chambered in .22LR. Overall excellent condition with mint bore.This gun has been held in a private collection for many years, pampered in the safe. This model in 2.5 inch and .22 LR was shown first in Colts 1966 catalog with no price. The first ones (22 LR/2.5 inch)shipped from factory were in 1968. This configuration was made from 1968 until 1972 with a few rumored to have been made in 74, total production approx. 4700. Grips are excellent, original blued finish also excellent with minor handling marks. Colt Archives Letter show gun shipped to Jerry Berman & Sons, San Bernardino California on Dec. 6, 1968, with a manufactured date of Nov. 22, 1968. 6 guns in shipment. Letter verifies caliber, barrel length, blued finish and grips. Comes in numbered to gun box with owners papers and tool. Colt collectors hardly ever see a Diamondback .22LR in 2 1/2 offered for sale, especially with letter and box in this condition. Easily one of the best low production Snake guns for investment.
