Colt Diamondback 2 1/2 1968 Ex. Cond With Box * and Papers .38 Rarely Found in 2 1/2" Snake Gun

Description:
SALE PENDING DAVE S. (PA) 6/14/22   Featured in the 1968 Steve McQueen movie " Bullit" and known to be one of the guns collected by Sadam Hussein.  One of the least often encountered of the original Snake Guns in this configuration. While these lovely scaled down original pythons were produced from 1966 to 1968 this scarely found 2 1/2" model was made only intil 1972 (with a few made in 75 according to Wiki) and of those we do not know how many were in 38, 22 or 22m; in either case it is a somewhat scarce gun. 
Overall condition is very good with some drag line evident on cyl and light holster wear front of barrel and lug but no meaningful marks or flaw or touch up or dings on stocks or other with very minor scaling on the backstrap...just a really neat gun and unlike its big brother, small enough to carry and comfortable to shoot for folks with smaller hands
Lock up is excellent and it appears to have been fired little.
It comes in a Colt box with papers; the box is not original to the gun and the flaps are missing.
Colt introduced the double-action Diamondback as a deluxe model in 1966.[1] It has a wide serrated target hammer, ventilated rib, fully adjustable target quality sights, and full-length barrel underlug.[1] It is a 6-shot revolver with a swing-out cylinder and was available in blue or nickel finishes.[1] Visually, the Diamondback resembles a scaled-down version of the Python. While the Python is built on Colt's "I frame," the Diamondback is built on the smaller "D frame," as used in the Detective Special. The Diamondback was dropped from production in 1988.
It is known that  Saddam Hussein collected  Colt Diamondbacks.
