Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 w/ 2" Barrel
Description:
This Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 was manufactured between 1967 and 1977. This example is serial number 2D35335, making it's date of manufacture 1977. It has a 2-inch barrel and a round butt. These features were to make the gun easier to conceal as a carry weapon. The Model 10, otherwise known as the M&P (Military & Police) was widely used by many police forces around the country. These Model 10s quickly developed a reputation for ruggedness and reliability due to their hefty construction and excellent mechanical design. A standard patrol officer would carry a 4-inch barrel model, and a plain clothes detective or undercover officer would typically carry the 2-inch model offered here. This example is in very nice original condition with a little holster wear on the high edges and some small carry marks. These can be seen in the pictures provided. The original checkered wooden grips with S&W medallions are also in great shape. They have some dings here and there but nothing that really detracts from this Smith's appearance. The bore is minty in this pistol with sharp rifling and no pitting or erosion. The cylinder bores are also excellent. Everything works 100% like it did the day it left the S&W factory. Both the double and single action modes of operation are nice and smooth with a crisp trigger break. Smith & Wesson made far more of the 4-inch guns than these 2-inch models, so it is not often that we get one in this configuration that is this nice and original. Would be an excellent addition to any gun collection, or a perfect gun for self defense.
