VERY LIMITED PRODUCTION NEW IN BOX COLT COURIER, .22LR REVOLVER ONLY MADE 1953-1956. Little is found in print about this extremely rare Colt model. The best info is in Gurney Brown’s excellent book COLT’S DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVERS, The Post-War Era. In the short chapter devoted to this model he states: The Courier model is one of the more difficult Colt double action revolvers to locate, with only about 3,000 examples being manufactured. It appeared in Colt’s 1954 and 1955 catalogs but was manufactured from 1953-1956. It was offered in two calibers: Colt .32 New Police and .22 Long Rifle and one barrel length- 3in… He further states: A thorough study of this short-lived revolver indicated that 3,053 units were manufactured, many of which were exported. This amazing example with serial number 55XXXLW appears brand new and unfired. The wood grained Colt box is in excellent condition with correct end label and is numbered to this revolver. Considering this model was made in two calibers and that many were exported, there can’t be many like this! Simply the best.
