Colt Model 1877 “Lightning” .38 Colt Excellent-Fine Condition with factory letter

Description:
Colt Cal. 38 Lightning. S# 63786.
Bbl. 5". Model 1877 "Lightning" revolver mfg. by Colt in 1888.
Left side of the bbl. is marked "COLT D.A. 38" within an etched panel, with Colt's 2-line address marked across the top. Left side of frame is marked with patent information.
Major metal components exhibit a nickel plated finish, with the cyl. base pin, frame screws, grip screw, trigger, and rear strap of the hammer exhibiting a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt black checkered hard rubber grips. Half-moon blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. Bullseye ejector head. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, cyl., trigger guard, and rear grip strap. Grips are matching via a handwritten "786" in white grease pencil on the interior of the panels.

CONDITION:
Metal components retain the majority of their original nickel plated
factory finish and in gnerally fine condition, showing some small spots/areas of flaking and wear that show fine oxidation with a few small spots of light to
mild pitting. Nitre blue parts show varying degrees of light wear.
Mirror bore, exhibiting a few small spots of light pitting towards the breech, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately in SA and DA modes. Grips show light smoothing and a few superficial handling marks, but are otherwise very good overall. A high condition antique Colt Model 1877 "Lightning" revolver.
