Made in 1861 in .36 caliber with a 7 1/2"" barrel. Nice sharp gun. Has approximately 15% blue remains in protected areas. Trigger guard and backstrap retain approximately 50% silver. Grips are excellent. Engraving is very sharp with excellent cylinder scene. Backstrap is inscribed ""Capt Joseph Ellis Co. D, 2nd Regt Infantry, 1st Brigade, 1st Div. P.V."". John Ellis enlisted on May 18, 1861 into the 19th Pennsylvania Infantry and mustered in as a captain for Company D; he as discharged on August 29, 1861. Ellis then enlisted in the 72nd Pennsylvania Infantry on September 18, 1861 and mustered in as a captain on October 31, 1861. He resigned and was discharged on October 27, 1862. Pistol is accompanied by a binder with extensive research on Ellis.
