Offered for sale this week is a really neat example of a Colt New Serivce. This pistol was special ordered in Nickel finish with Pearl stocks and shipped to an Amarillo Texas retailer. The nickel finish is original and in very nice condtion. The pistol does show wear from being holstered and shot but was well cared for. Nickel New Services are quite rare in their own regard. Finding a New Service that shipped from the factory with fancy stocks that actually are listed on the letter is very rare. As for the grips, the pistol came to me with a damaged Carved Steer Head Pearl stocks that were chipped on the back side and on the butt. This Steer Head grip was no doubt original to the pistol. It is common for the shipping ledgers to sometimes not specify if the grips were carved or not. I replaced the Steer grip with a minty factory pearl New Service stock that fits near perfect. I will included the original Steer Head grip with the pistol. I am sure someone out ther could fix it up a little better.
Overall a very rare pistol with a great factory letter and shipping destination. People love Texas shipped Colts!
