These Colt pistols were carried by Railway Express couriers. Railway Express was a Company formed by combining several independent agencies, with the purpose of simplifying transport of goods in WWI. It operated on the railways in a similar manner to FedEx operating in the air today. The couriers were armed to protect the high value packages they were contracted to deliver. .38 S&W Special

Metal Condition: "Fair. These service pistols were carried, a lot. About 50% of the blue remains. There also a large number of scratches, and some pitting.
Wood Condition: Fair. There is quite a bit of wear on the checkering and on the Colt medallion. The bottom of the butt has a number of dings and what may be a repaired chip.
Bore Condition: "The bore is a little bit dark but shiny and clean, the rifling is a little thin but okay.
Barrels: 4 inches
Triggers: Factory double and single action trigger.
Butt Pad: Slim profile walnut

Sights: Blade and groove.
