The Colt Police Positive is an improved version of the earlier "New Police" model, which included improvements such as the new "Positive lock" internal hammer safety. This example is the Police Positive 38, a model designed for the weaker "Colt New Police" and "Super New Police" ammunition, which was essentially a .38 S&W Short cartridge loaded with a projectile with enhanced wounding effect. Overall condition is good, with roughly 60% original finish and some areas of pitting, corrosion and fading. Internally the pistol is in very good condition, with excellent timing and a clean bore.
