*1876 INDIAN WARS PERIOD* Antique Colt SAA .45cal. 7 1/2" Barrel Nickel w/Cartridge-Money Belt and Holster* NICE!
Description:
Very nice, early and historical 1876 Indian wars period Colt single action army revolver with a 7 1/2" barrel, nickel finish, .45cal., with beautiful original walnut grips complete with cartridge/money belt and double loop holster, shipped in October of 1876. As was the case with nearly all of these early Colt SAA revolvers, they were shipped blue to the dealers of whom they were sold, and nickel plated while still in new condition, as was the norm during this time period. (See, "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver, by Graham, Kopec, and Moore, for reference.) The majority of the nickel finish is still on this revolver, one small spot of pinprick corrosion on ejector housing, but, does not distract. The fine original walnut grips retain quite a bit of original varnish from 1876, and fit perfectly. The screws are nice and still show some of their original faded nitre blue finish. All of the factory markings are very nice and sharp. (See pics). The mechanics are excellent (all 4 clicks) with tight lock up, and the bore would rate very good/excellent, as well. All serial #'s match including the barrel and cylinder with the last four digits. Comes complete with factory archive letter from Colt, and a great antique money/cartridge belt and double loop holster. This is a very nice and complete "Indian Wars" era Colt single action revolver in great condition, way better than most, and very hard to find this nice!! Please ask questions if desired. NO FFL required for shipping, unless you live in a state that requires one for transfer, NY, NJ, etc.. Shipping is $35.00 which includes insurance to the lower 48 states. First time offering from a private collection.
