1878-1882 Texas Sheriff's Remington, Model 1875, Serial #59, .44-.40 W Cartridge Revolver
Description: SOLD! To W.Q. Wyser's Descendants!!!! Robinson County Texas Sheriff (1878-1882) W.Q. Wyser's .44-.40 Gun- Impeccable Provenance, History,Matching Holster, Documentation and one of the Cool-est Outfits I have ever owned! A Remington Model 1875 .44-.40 W (W.C,F.) marked on left grip, Serial #59. Nice Old Holster that fits like a glove! This Gun came from the collection of Gaines De Graffried (Texas Ranger Museum) and was in the original set of guns he had in Ft. Fisher (Texas Rangers Museum-WACO) back in the 70's. Mr David J. Hall talked him into selling it to him around 1977 (see Letter) where it stayed until a California collector bought it from him. It stayed in California until last year when I got it. I am not from Texas but think this outfit needs to go back home to Texas, That is where it belongs! Please look through the pics of all the letters, book, documentation that came with the gun, This a SUPER COOL Outfit full of TEXAS HISTORY from the Cattle bottoms between The Trinity and the Brazos Rivers in the 1800's. There is documentation from W.Q. Wyser's son, a letter from Gaines De Graffried, a book from Robinson County Texas with several mentions about W.Q. Wyser as well as his brother who was the jailer and fed the prisoners until they murdered him while bringing them their food one evening. They were all captured by W.Q. Wyser and hanged! Cattle country was not for the weak of stomach when he was the Sheriff for sure. Super Neat Piece of TEXAS HISTORY! Will take pre-1899 Colts in trade. All questions welcomed,I will try to answer if I know.
