Description:
This is a Colt 1st Generation SAA Single Action Army revolver (serial #222851) shipped to Colt’s San Francisco Agency for Dunham, Carrigan & Hayden, San Francisco, California, March 7, 1902, with one other gun. It is in .38 WCF (.38-40) caliber with a 5.5” barrel, blued and cased, with standard hard rubber grips (gutta percha). It is in good using condition, without much original finish, some shallow frosting overall, in good mechanical shape – all four clicks, solid notches and reasonable lock up. It was apparently someone’s go to gun, but wasn’t dragged behind the horse and was looked after. The bore is dark and lightly frosted but has strong rifling and no rings or holes. The grips are in very good condition and the screw heads are as well.
The holster is a single loop, steer head, heavy leather holster, not as old as the gun, made by H. H. Heiser, Denver, Colorado. It is in very good, using condition.
