Colt 1st Generation Single Action Army, 2-Location Serial Number Transition Model, Cal. 38/40, Rare
Description:
Recently discovered, this first generation Colt Single Action Army, chambered in .38/40, was manufactured in 1919, during the serial number relocation transition period, and is one of only a few hundred guns that shows only two serial numbers. One appears on the frame and the other on the bottom of the back-strap, and none shows on the trigger guard (except under the grip). Shortly after this gun was made the back-strap number was also moved under the grips, leaving only the frame with a visable number. With the gun, which retains approximately 95% original finish, is the original numbered to the gun box and an original set of hard rubber grips. The Colt style fleur-de-lis, checkered wood grips are in wonderful condition, have the original deep set Colt medallions, and fit the gun very well. The gun is excellent all-over, the bore is perfect and the mechanics are fine. This "two number SAA" is a rarity and the grips make this a real attractive six-shooter. PRICE: $10,500 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY., since 1974. PH. 859-276-1419
