Colt SAA "Frontier Six Shooter" - Cal. .44-40 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN 98276(1883) - all matching on barrel, cylinder, frame and guard. Bore is VG+ to excellent - bright with sharp rifling but shows mild roughness. Action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up - "4" clicks but "safety" notch is a little soft. Metal is excellent overall with sharp markings, excellent screws and shows no rust, pits, or corrosion - "H" inspector stamp in hammer notch and "L" stamp on rear face of cylinder - .44 Cal. markings on barrel and guard. Metal has drifted to a smooth dark patina with flashes of thin blue in a few protected spots. The lightly etched panel on the barrel is not visible - the frame has hints of faded case color but is mostly a gray patina. Walnut grips are solid but show chips at bottom edges and are slightly undersized along backstrap from shrinkage and some cleaning - retain about l80% finish. A very sharp old SAA in the popular .44 caliber in VG ++ or better conditon that will make a great collectible.
