Description:
This first generation single action colt was sold to the U S Government on Sept.24 th 1878. It was delivered to a inspector on that date.
This gun comes with 2 Colt Factory Letters, one dated July 8th 1958 and comes with the original envelope.
I ordered the second letter from Kathleen J. Hoyt, the Colt Historian in1997. This gun is stamped U.S. and has the initials from the inspector HN which is Henny Nettton. The frame and trigger are stamped but not the frame. All serial numbers match on the trigger guard frame and back strap. The second Colt letter states there were 200 gun in the shipment. Also Colt cut the barrel from 7 1/2 to 5 1/2 Inch. There is no finish remaining and some small spots on the cylinder. It comes with the 2 Colt letters and the presentation box I found it in. In John Kopecs book this serial number was refurbished that coat and then ship to the New York militia in the 1800s. This information is in John’s book on US and Calvary guns. Feel free to contact me I’m open to offers.
