COLT SINGLE ACTION SHIPPED TO FORT SMITH ARKANSAS IN 1911 CAL 45 BARREL
4 3/4
Description: The item for sale is a Colt single action chambered in 45 long colt with a 4 3/4" barrel. In the history of the American West a few towns such as Tombstone, Dodge City and Cheyenne have provided bigger than life personalities and stories. Few towns can match that of Fort Smith., Arkansas. Fort Smith was the location of the Court for the Western Disrict of Arkansas and included the Indian Territory. Men like Judge Isaac Parker, " The Hanging Judge" presided over the District Court for 21 years and sentenced 160 people to be executed. More men were executed in Fort Smith by the government than any place else in American history. The "Prince of Hangmen" George Maledon worked for Judge Parker. Legendary lawmen Heck Thomas, Bass Reeves and Bill Tilghman along with many other lawmen and badmen left a place in American History for Fort Smith. There is so much more to be said about Fort Smith, however that is beyond the scope of this writing. The Colt offered for sale is in very good condition. The Colt factory letter accompanies the revolver and verifies.the features of the revolver. A good amount of original finish still remains. Most of the blue is lost due to handling. The original Colt hard rubber grips are in nice condition and fit well. The bore is very good with a nice shine. The action is tight and functions perfectly when cycled. Gun features original screws in nice condition. The front blade sight is full and has not been shortened as happened frequently. A fine addition to a Colt collection or Western collection. Please include $35 for shipping and insurance. A copy of a FFL is required prior to shipping.
