Engraved Colt SAA Black Powder Frame 4 3/4 Inch 38-40 Bullseye Ejector Single Action Army
Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are very proud to offer this beautiful engraved Colt early first generation Single Action Army. Made in the year of our Lord 1881, she is a sight to behold. Decked out with generous amounts of engraving and pearl type grips, you would not guess that she is 137 years old. The telltale features are there: the transverse screw holding the dimpled base pin, the beveled cylinder, long hammer knurling, and the bullseye ejector handle. The engraver took a few liberties with the stampings, but left some very striking engraving. The action is relatively crisp, and the bore of the gunfighter length 4 3/4 inch barrel has plenty of shine and strong rifling. This wheel gun is chambered in 38-40, an offering that allowed mounted men to carry the same ammunition for sidearm and carbine. It is interesting to note that it is actually .40 caliber, but Winchester didn't want to confuse by offering a 44-40 and 40-40. These early black powder frame guns are getting scarce, and the values keep climbing. If you have been looking for the right first genny gun to collect or for investment, but want the extra clout of profuse engraving on a 5 digit short barreled gun, then look no further.
