First Month Production Ainsworth Inspected US Cavalry Colt SAA, SN:329
Description: Made the very first month of production of the Colt SAA for the US Cavalry's first order of 5000 revolvers. Serial number 329 was shipped to th 10th Cavalry at Ft. Leavenworth KS. Known as the Buffalo soldiers. Gun remains in excellent condition with all the correct numbers matching, and A for Ainsworth inspector markings. US marked, 1871 & 1872 patent dates only, Square cylinder stop depressions without a runway, unnumbered loading gate, serial numbered barrel, early mainspring with no roller, correct script on barrel with two crosses, Ainsworth cartouche on grips. The gun appears to have been partially cosmetically restored about 1950 and remains in excellent pampered condition. All mechanics funtion as intended and tight with all the clicks on hammer. One of the lowest production serial numbered guns to still exist in Colt SAA US Marked Cavalry revolvers. This Colt is a beautiful and historic shooting piece of US history that would shine in any collection. Gun comes in a new wood and velvet Colt Custom Shop presentation case with key and copy of shipping records to 10th Cavalry at Fort Leavenworth KS.
