** SOLD ** 1881 Vintage Colt Single Action Army chambered in .45LC w/ 7.5 Barrel ** D.W. Harris Engraved/Refinished & Period "Bone" Grips **
Description: Presented here is an absolutely beautiful 1881 manufactured Colt SAA that has been completely engraved and refinished by Master engraver David Wade Harris. Mr. Harris has been a full-time master engraver since 1985. He learned the art of engraving from master gun engraver Weldon Bledsoe and he learned from engraver Cole Agee. His work reflects the great gun engravers of the mid to late 1800s, such as L.D. Nimschke, and Cuno Helfritch. Mr. Harris is most noted for carrying on the tradition of engraving the Cattlebrands as did his mentors. This particular 1881-manufactured SAA has been completely disassembled and expertly nickel plated. All the screws have been fire-blued and a gorgeous set of "bone" grips have been fitted to the grip frame. The whole revolver has been tastefully engraved in a Helfricht checker pattern. The nickel finish is still bright and shiny and shows just a hint of small handling marks. The "bone" grips fit nicely to the frame and do not wiggle or shift. The Colt barrel still retains its factory markings along the top and the bore is excellent. The cylinder, backstrap, trigger guard, and frame are all numbered and matching.
