Antique BELGIAN Made COLT PATENT “NAVY” Revolver
Description: Antique BELGIAN Made COLT PATENT “NAVY” Revolver Liege Proofed Numbers Matching Gun Here we present an antique Belgian Colt Patent percussion revolver, made circa 1855 in Liege, Belgium. Colt Patent revolvers, also called Brevete revolvers, were made in other countries including Austria, Belgium, France, Japan, Russia and Spain. Brevete Colt revolvers were not confined to the Model 1848 and 1849 Pocket and Model 1851 Navy models. Brevete variants of the percussion Colt Revolving Rifles and Model 1861 Army, and the cartridge-based Model 1873 Peacemaker were also manufactured. The most identifiable feature on the Patent Colt revolvers are the scenes engraved on the cylinder. Cylinders made by Colt will show dragoons and Indians, such as this revolver has, or the stagecoach holdup on the Pocket Pistols and on the M1851 Navy, along with the naval battle scene. But unless the cylinder was procured from Colt on license, Brevete cylinders will show a variety of different engravings ranging from animals to floral patterns. It is interesting to see a European interpretation of a “Cowboy & Indian” scene. The overall condition is fair. The metal surfaces have a gray patina. The markings are clear. Cylinder scene is very good. The numbers match. The barrel wedge is lacking. The walnut grips are in good condition. The bore is fair with slight rifling and roughness. The action is functional. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inch octagon. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $750 #8630 SOLD Antique: Yes |
