Colt Model 1855 Sidehammer "Root" Revolver - 5th Model - Cal. .31 - 5-shot - 3 1/2" Bbl. - SN 74XX(1862). Perfect, near mint bore - perfect action with excellent timing and lock-up - Excellent metal with no rust, pits, or corrosion and perfect screws. Barrel retains 95% blue with some areas of thinning - cylimder about 90% thinning blue - frame and backstrap about 90% to 95% - some case color remains on the hammer. Walnut grips are excellent and undamaged retaining95% finish with only a few light surface marks from normal use. An exceptionally nice and all original early "Root" in perfect working order in excellent + condition, fully functional, and a super collectible.
