Civil War Era Colt 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver, All Matching
Description: DESCRIPTION: Civil War Era Colt 1851 Navy 36 caliber percussion revolver, serial # 116728 which by the Springfield Research Survey is very close to several 1851 Navy Revolvers issued to the 10th Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, made at the end of 1861, with standard 7.5" octagon barrel, walnut grips, brass trigger guard and back strap, case hardened frame and loading lever, blued barrel, brass insert front sight, 6-shot cylinder, single action. CONDITION: Barrel, frame and loading rod have turned a mix of plum and patina with scattered dings, scratches and pinprick oxidation, retaining about 10% of the original coverage. Cylinder shows an old cold blue but has all 6 original nipples intact and exhibits 75% of the engagement scene with clear patent and serial number. Barrel address complete and crisp. Brass trigger guard and back strap are a nice mellow aged mustard color. Top of back strap just behind hammer shows some light initials and border scratched in no doubt early in its use as they are light and barely legible. Original walnut grips are in great shape with light wear and loss at front toes, never sanded or refinished, no cracks or repairs. Hammer screw and loading rod screw are replacements. Bore is very good with strong rifling and typical black powder fouling, no rings, no bulges, no pits or craters. Very slight wobble at cylinder pin. Frame-to-barrel fit is super tight. Action functions as it should and times nicely with both notches holding and having positive clicks. The best part is all of the numbers match - full serial # on grip, trigger guard, cylinder, frame and barrel; partial numbers on wedge, arbor and loading rod. Grades NRA Antique Good and is a nice example to add to your Civil War and/or Colt collection. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Payment by bank check, money order, personal check, or all major credit cards with 3% convenience fee. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Offers considered. Thanks for looking.
