For Sale: Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol — 6" Barrel — Serial No. 187187 — "Outlaw"
Up for sale is a highly desirable 6-inch Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol engraved by Gustave Young in 1861.The pistol is cased in the most beautiful french fit case I have ever seen come through my shop. To put a cherry on top it is factory engraved and Colt Archived Lettered verifiying the configuration including the elephant ivory. 
Matching Numbers Throughout This example boasts matching serial numbers in all verified locations — barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, loading lever, wedge and arbor.  8 out of 8 matching.
Mechanics  The gun is mechanically excellent. Action works well 
Condition In our professional opinion, the pistol has been refinished many years ago. Perhaps 100 plus years ago with a new rust blue and new silver trigger guard. The pistol was used, it wasn't a wall hanger for someone. It appears to have classic black powder wear, but kept in good working condition. 
"Outlaw" I've taken the liberty of naming this one "Outlaw" as it appears to have been heavily used and flashy with its engraving and ivory grips. Whoever owned it, used it a lot, but also cared about the way it looked, having purchased it as engraved with ivory in New York. They also had the means to refinish it sometime later to keep it from rusting or corroding.
