Colt 1849 Wells Fargo with Unique 6 shot cylinder

For sale is a Colt 1849 Wells Fargo Model. This particular Wells Fargo Serial No. 122208 falls into the serial number range of many well-known examples. Pages taken from the book "Colt's Pocket 49" show that this model of Wells Fargo is unique displaying an 8 on the frame, trigger guard, and buttstrap. Making this particular model 1 of only 2000 ever produced. The bore is frosty but excellent. The action on this old gal is amazing. Most actions on these Pocket 49's leave a lot to be desired, however, this one is excellent.  Half cock allows the cylinder to rotate to load, and full cock indexes on all chambers and locks up tight. As the pictures show, the pistol wears a beautiful patina from years of age. The one-piece walnut grips are in very decent shape. All serial numbers match, aside from the wedge which is un numbered. The cylinder appears to match, but it is boogered up as this piece appears to be a heavy-use carry gun. Two Line New York Address. The cylinder scene is present. 

*Concerning the cylinder, I believe it to be an early replacement. Early, as in the week after the pistol was made. From my knowledge, Wells Fargos only shipped with a 5-shot cylinder. The owner of this particular piece opted to have a gunsmith or Colt fit his/her concealed carry pistol with a 6-shot cylinder for one extra round. A very fascinating piece to say the least, as not much has changed over the last 170 years! We are still trying to fit more rounds in our pistols and keep them the same size!
