Colt 1851 Navy Third Model, 1851 Production, .36 Cal.
Description:
The Colt 1851 Navy Third Model was made from 1851 to 1857, in the serial range 4200 to 85000. The 6-shot .36 caliber percussion revolvers were fitted with a 7 1/2 inch octagon barrel, one-piece walnut finished grips, small round trigger guard, loading lever, cylinder scene of Texas Navy battle with Mexico, silver plated trigger guard and grip back-strap, and were blue finished with color case-hardened frame, hammer, and loading lever. This 1851 vintage 1851 Navy is as described and is in very good original condition, having turned a grey patina after loss of most all of its original finishes. The trigger guard and grip back-strap retain 50% of their original silver plate. The cylinder scene is very visible but all the safety pins are missing. The bore is good with strong sharp rifling, making it very shootable, though there is minor corrosion throughout. The action is tight and it functions perfectly. The grips fit very well and retain 70-80% of their finish, they have no chips or cracks. The gun is all numbers matching: Frame to cylinder, trigger guard, grip back-strap, loading lever, and wedge. A nice old 2nd year production Colt Navy. PRICE: $2,950 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.
