Colt 1860 Army Fluted Cylinder, All Matching, Mfg.1861 Clean Sharp Metal, Mint Grips, Mechanically As New
Description: Offered is an All Original, Colt 1860 Army Percussion Pistol with the Desireable Fluted Cylinder manufactured in 1861 with all matching serial numbers including the grip. The metal is sharp and crisp with super tiny scattered pin prick pitting here and there (probably from storage in a holster). The interesting thing about this gun is it is mechanically as new. Totally tight full and half cocked lock up. No play in the cylinder, all safety pins standing tall and sharp serial number stamping between the nipples. As you know, some were serial numners were stamped in the flute of the cylinder and others were, as this one, between the nipples. Colt did this because the guns stamped in the flute were more prone to cylinder explosions due to the weakening of the cylinder wall where the serial number was stamped. I don't think this gun was fired very much as there is no mechanical wear at all. Screws are perfect and not buggered. Stamping is clear and crisp. It has the shorter 7 1/2" barrel. Grips fit perfectly with no ridge on the backstrap or trigger guard. There is no finish to speak of with minimal case color on the loading lever. The gun is a pleasant, uniform gray color. If you have followed the Fluted Armys that have sold through Rock Island , you will know that this Fluted Model is going steadily up in value. I am selling this only because I lost my mind and bought a very expensive Colt Army and I have to try and recover part of that expense. You will not be disappointed by this gun. USPS Priority Mail Shipping add $20. Personal check, money order or bank cashier's check accepted. Feel free to make an offer if you wish.
