Colt 1860 Fluted Army shipped to P.S. Newton in April of 1861 in a shipment of 50. Of course April of 1861 coincides with the outbreak of the Civil War. P.S. Newton was a gunsmith in Connecticut from 1828 to 1888. Gun has a smooth gray to brown patina and reasonably sharp. All markings are clear and all serial numbers match. Grips have a slot cut in the bottom on both sides probably for some kind of sling. The loading lever catch is a gunsmith replacement. Action and lock up are tight. Nice sharp fluted army!
