Description:
The Colt 1862 "Pocket" pistols were in effect a scaled down version of the larger 1860 "Army" revolvers, with a 5 shot 36 Cal cylinder instead of a 6 shot 44 Cal cylinder. The difference between the Navy and Police versions of the 1862 mostly revolved around the choice between the octagon / round barrel and the unfluted / fluted cylinder. This example, made in 1862 is in good overall condition, with the majority of the finish being faded to plumb brown and wear consistent with its age. luckily, the bore is in rather good condition, with only minor pitting and the action is functional, though the half cock notch feels shallow. The cylinder, however, appears to be replacement, as the serial number doesn't match.
