Description:
This is a beautiful example of the 2nd Generation "F-series" Colt cap and ball revolvers build between 1978 and 1982. This example is a Baby Dragoon Model in .31 caliber. It comes complete with the original serial numbered box, all of the manuals and paperwork, foam inserts, and factory triggerguard hangtag. It is unfired and in like-new condition except for a few very minor safe dings that occurred during the last 35 plus years of gun safe storage. These Colt revolvers were nearly identical to the famous originals and were fully functional. The Colt 1848 Baby Dragoon was originally made from 1847 to 1850, with a total of approx. 15,000 manufactured. It was a 5-shot revolver in .31 caliber and was essentially a scaled down model of the Dragoon. It was intended as a pocket pistol, and to cut down on the weight of the pistol the loading lever assembly was deleted from the design. It was offered in a 3", 4", 5", and 6" inch barrel and was popular with Pony Express and Wells Fargo riders. This 2nd Generation example is an attractive little pistol. The factory blue finish rates 98% with no finish wear, only some tiny storage marks. The case colored frame and trigger are beautiful, showing nice bright colors. The silver plated triggerguard and grip frame are in excellent shape. The silver shows a nice tarnished patina, exactly what you would want on a gun of this age. The varnished Walnut 1-piece grip is in great shape overall and is perfectly fit to the gun. The wood shows some minor scratches/dings as you can see int he pictures, but nothing that detracts much from the clean and attractive look of this Colt. Everything on this Baby Dragoon works 100% like the day it left the factory and the action is perfectly "in time". The original box shows some age but has an intact serial numbered factory end-label and all of the paperwork and inserts are inside. This little Colt would be a cool addition to any gun collection and a great investment.
