COLT FIRST MODEL DRAGOON

Description:
44 caliber 6 shot percussion revolver with 7-1/2 inch round and part octagon barrel with Gain Twist rifling and a pretty decent bore. Metal is mostly a plum brown with nice patina on the brass. Some pitting on the frame which is most likely from poor storage. Gun is in the 4700 serial range with all matching numbers including the wedge. The cylinder scene is no longer visible but the serial number may have been re-stamped. 1st Model oval cylinder slots. Square back trigger guard. Walnut grips show some wear and a couple of repairs to them but I believe they are original to the gun. There is an extra hole in the bottom of the brass backstrap. Action functions fairly well. About 7,000 First Models were made from 1848-1850 and this Dragoon is from 1849.
