Desirable Civil War Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver with 6" Barrel Made 1863
Description: Consignment item, one of many from a large collection of 1850s and 1860s percussion firearms. Please see my other listings for more items. Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver, caliber 31 percussion. This is the configuration all the collectors want: 6-shot cylinder and 6" octagon barrel, blued and case hardened finish with brass back strap and trigger guard, walnut grips, serial number 245464, made in 1863 during the height of the Civil War. Very solid Civil War era example that retains 10% case colors on the frame, 15% case colors on the hammer, 20% bright blue in the protected areas at the back of and 50% underneath the barrel, with the balance a smooth patina. Grips are solid and retain most of the clear varnish. Cylinder retains 95% of the Stagecoach scene. Bore is good. Action is crisp with positive clicks and indexes perfectly every time; nice, solid lock-up with a strong spring. No silver plate remains on the brass parts, which have turned a mild ochre color. All locations have the matching serial number. Sharp U. S. America address on the barrel. Some light pitting in spots of the metal as expected with a firearm of this vintage. Grades NRA Antique Very Good. TERMS: No international sales and no sales to Alaska or Hawaii. Sales to California and New York will only be shipped to an FFL dealer.
