Engraved 5” Colt 1849 Pocket
Description:
Sale Pending
Edited to correct serial number and to specify price.
Really need to move this Colt as I am “gun poor” and am cleaning out my collection.
Exceptional Colt Revolver. This little Revolver, S/N 89376, is listed in G. Young’s invoice for No. 2 style engraved Pistols dated 3rd June 1854. The minimal background dots and tight floral patterns suggests Young’s hand as opposed to some of his shop engravers.
The engraving is sharp and and tight as are all other markings except for cylinder scene which is about 75%. The BluIng has begun to fade and turn a little. Case colors have darkened. Revolver is mechanically sound. Silver on trigger guard is near 100% while back straps shows wear with 40-50% remaining silver. Grips are fine with no discernible blemishes.
