FINE & RARE Cased “LONDON” Antique COLT 1849 Pocket
Description: FINE & RARE Cased “LONDON” Antique COLT 1849 Pocket Antebellum London Address Colt Revolver Made in 1858 Here we present an antique Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver, with the rare London address, made in 1858. This cased set includes original Colt accoutrements such as nipple wrench, powder flask and “COLTS PATENT” bullet mold. Also included are 5 lead bullets and a tin of “J. GOLDMARK’S PERCUSSION CAPS”. The cylinder scene on this revolver shows the famous Colt stagecoach holdup, which is quite clear. The top of the barrel features the rare barrel address “{ADDRESS. COL. COLT/LONDON.}”. “COLTS/PATENT” on the frame. “2” on the left side of the barrel. “M” on the left rear of the trigger guard. There are no British proof marks. This revolver was made in Hartford the year after the closing of the Colt factory in London and is a highly desirable and rare specimen for collectors. The overall condition is fine. The revolver bears about 50% of the original blue finish. Case colors are still strong in some areas of the frame and especially on the loading lever. The silver plate on the iron grip frame is about 20%. The cylinder scene is complete and sharp. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The walnut grip is in great condition with nearly all of its original varnish. The bore is in fine shape with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. The case is original from the period with original lining and a few minor repairs to the joints. Crack in the lid is stable.
