Manhattan (Colt Copy) Very Rare First Series 5 shot 4 Inch .31 Caliber - only 12 made - Cased w/accessories
Description:
This is an incredible find. Manhattan Firearms knocked off Colt's Percussion Pocket Model and made 1000 guns in 1858 after Colt's Patent had expired, but Colt sued them anyway. They made 988 of these 1st series revolvers in .36 caliber with 4,5,and 6 inch barrels - and they made 12 with 4 inch barrels in .31 caliber. This is one of those 12 and also it is factory engraved revolver in a mahogany casing with original manhattan .31 cal bullet mold, nipple wrench, eagle flask, and box of Wincheser percussion caps. Photos show the original condition of this wonderful revolver. Please note the revolver was originally equipped with a belt hanger on the right side and this was removed prior to sale because of the risk of another lawsuit from Col Colt. A very rare and important Manhattan revolver in what appears to be its original or period casing.
