Upper Canada Marked London Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver
Description: Serial #33041, .36 Caliber, 7 1/2" octagon barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an 1855-made revolver that has an overall pewter gray patina, with some scattered areas of freckling, as well as some areas of pinprick pitting on the rear of the cylinder, hammer nose, and forward edge of the recoil shield. Original muted color case-hardening is still present on the sides of the frame and protected portions of the loading lever. All numbers, except for the wedge (in common with nearly all extant UC marked ‘51 Navies), are matching. The walnut grip has numerous small handling marks throughout on both sides. The left side of the grip has legible Canadian Militia markings: "UC / F / 48" (Upper Canada / Troop F / Gun #48). This corresponds to Canadian Militia troops based in an around Cornwall, Ontario. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This is a very good-near fine example of an Upper Canada ‘51 Navy, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique SOLD |
