Very Fine Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver 36 Caliber Revolver Mfg 1863

Description:
Serial #22339, .36 Caliber, 5 ½ inch round barrel with a very fine bright bore with strong rifling and scattered light roughness. This is a five shot Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver manufactured in 1863 with a one line New York address. The Civil War matching number revolver remains in very fine / near excellent condition with the barrel retaining 75-80% of the original bright blue with flaking and linear scratches along the top and sides toward the muzzle. The frame, hammer and lever show muted case-colors toning to brown with some freckling. The cylinder shows 65-70% original bright blue and has crisp patent date. The grips straps show yellow-ochre with hints of the original silver finish. The grips are solid showing very light handling marks. The action functions properly with tight lock up and smooth action with strong springs. A very fine example of a 2nd year production 1862 Police revolver. Antique
