VERY SCARCE “Wells Fargo” Model COLT 1849 Revolver
Description: VERY SCARCE “Wells Fargo” Model COLT 1849 Revolver DESIRABLE Antebellum Pocket Revolver Made in 1856 Here we present an antique Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver “Wells Fargo Model”, made in 1856 in Hartford, Connecticut. Though over 340,000 1849 Pocket Revolvers were produced by Colt’s factory at Hartford, only a mere 4,000 of them were produced in this configuration with a 3-inch barrel and no loading lever. Another common element observed is that they all seem to have been marked with an “8” under one or several of the serial numbers. This is similar to the designation that Colt used for its special order or engraved revolvers, those displaying a dot or letter under the serial numbers. These would have been even handier for the pocket than their longer-barreled brethren and have been colloquially called the “Wells Fargo Model”. The barrel address on this one reads “{ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY}”. The cylinder scene depicts a stage coach robbery complete with rearing horses, the driver shooting it out with the bandits, and a damsel in distressed framed in the doorway of the coach. The overall condition is very good. The steel surfaces have a nice gray patina. The brass grip frame bears about 60% of its original silver plate. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The bore is sharp and clean. The walnut grips are in good condition, showing some honest wear and with a chip off the left toe. The action on this revolver is excellent. Here is a very desirable and very scarce example of the Colt 1849 Wells Fargo Revolver! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3 inches. Caliber: .31 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2600 #6435 SOLD Antique: Yes |
