Description: #4947 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45, 80XXX range (manufactured c1882) with VG+ bore (7+) and fine tight action with all the clicks on the hammer. Some light scattered pitting overall on thin grayish-brown patina, correct half-moon ejector head (as that type ejector head was introduced in the mid-70XXX serial range), VG markings, and VG standard wood grips with average wear. Under the ejector housing and up near the ejector boss on the barrel, it has some unusual markings “C-40 THDS”. The “C” is the factory inspectors marking, but what all the other rather cryptic marks might be is anyones guess. Overall, a very decent early 1880s Single Action with a nice bore and tight solid action. About VG-VG+ as described. $3350 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
