#4951 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, civilian model, 38XXX range (1877), Fine bore (8+ on scale of 10) and VG action. Smooth brown metal with light wear and minor salt-n-pepper pitting here and there as well as some pretty heavy wear to the one-piece wood grips, especially on the one side (the left) from rubbing against a cartridge belt or some similar object, the right side having a toe chip also. The right grip also has four “hash-marks” which possibly have a long lost interesting story …or may simply be how many coyotes some cowhand killed one winter. Who knows?? The ejector rod head is the later post-1883 “half moon” style, but the ejector housing is still the correct captive rod housing. A decent early Civilian Colt. VG-VG+ $3350
