Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT, 78XXX(1882), Fine bore just some light scale and darkness in the grooves, but a 7+ to 8 on a scale of 10. It indexes well, and the action is very tight with all clicks on the correct vintage hammer. The exterior has a smooth even brownish patina on VG metal with no pits of consequence , VG markings with the exception of the patent dates which were either mis-struck or it was over-cleaned at some point and they are very weak and only partially visible. All matching numbers, including the barrel number. The grips fit reasonable well, but do have the often seen nicks and chips on the edges and are a tad shy on the right side of the backstrap, probably from over cleaning during its lifetime. Overall (in my opinion) this is slightly better than most 138-year old guns that one sees at firearm s or gunshows, and it is a very decent representation of a cowboys sidearm during the famed Cattle Wars period. About VG/VG+ as described. $3195
